Ten things I’ve learned from long-form improv classes

The Impatient Theater has great classes.

  1. Have a strong opinion.
  2. Care about each other.
  3. Make the active choice.
  4. Aim for beauty, settle for comedy.
  5. Find the first odd thing in a scene: that’s the game.
  6. Be honest.
  7. Trust your partner.
  8. Play against type.
  9. Avoid puns.
  10. Don’t talk about what you’re doing. It’s boring.
